Matt Bennett

Matt Bennett is executive director of the New Millennium Research Council (NMRC), a research-public relations group that deals primarily in the fields of telecommunications and technology.  Before that, he was public policy director for the Alliance for Public Technology, a non-profit group with telecom and technology industry funders that focuses exclusively on broadband and advanced telecommunications technologies. Bennett was appointed as APT's representative on the FCC's Consumer Advisory Committee in 2003.

Before joining APT, Bennett was senior associate for communications and government relations at the Alliance for Community Media. In that capacity, he worked on policy issues relating to Public, Educational and Government (PEG) cable access channels and served as editor-in-chief for the Fall 2000 issue of Community Media Review. Bennett also worked for Congressman Patrick Kennedy (D-RI), concentrating on health care issues. Prior to coming to Washington, D.C., he served on several political campaigns while working for a communications consulting firm in Rhode Island.

Bennett received a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts, both in Political Science, from American University in Washington, D.C.
